Russian Infantry Regiments Identification by Name and Place
I have to admit I have quite issue with war just beyond my doorsteps with waging war on tabletop, or painting my Russian army. Yes it’s hypocrisy, sort of, but I take it personal. First I never thought I would be searching my colleague well-being in Odessa or Kyiv. We have a lot of business partners, persons I know in Ukraine. Also I have a lot of acquaintances and even Friends in Russia. Well, not that many friends anymore, as a lot of them is telling me, that we are stupid westerners, who do not see the nazi-ideology widespread in Ukraine and support this criminal acts of War against Ukraine and genocide against its People.
So I just thought that I will sell my Russian army. Or redo all regiments to be non-Russian. At least by name associated with historical settlements. To identify names of the regiments, and where are they from, I create this list. It’s defined more or less by garrison or conscription area only, just name and place. Also I use current borders, not historical one, as it will be tough to select where to do cut off.
By the way, the best way to avoid "Russian" uniforms and miniatures, go for Russian German Legion. Russian Uniforms with black details, French cannons and fantastic Wallmoden's Corps with all those different international allies units, including British.
Anyway, in order to have this a little bit of help, all
regiments are sorted by seniority. Source (Uljanov: 1812 Russkaya Pehota v

* Tauride Grenadier Regiment was formed Revel (Tallin
Estonia) from several grenadier companies. Barracks in Moscow, name can point
to Ukrainian Crymea peninsular or Tauride Palace of Prince Potemkin of Tauride
in St. Petersburg
** current Ukraine Azov Regiment has nothing to do with old
Azov Regiment (please note neo-nazi reputation is pure Russian propaganda now,
it has had some far right soldiers – as virtually in any army - in 2014, not
now)
*** Kurinsky regiment has been formed at Korfu, Greece
